Jena Rissman Atlass, J.D.
A native of South Florida, Jena has been a part-time Telluride resident since 2008. She quickly fell in love with the town and its warm sense of community and has steadily increased her time and engagement with Telluride over the years. She has consistently supported the Telluride Fire Protection District and the Telluride Medical Center during her time in Telluride. Now with more time available, Jena can devote the time required to serve the community on the Board of TMCF.
Jena earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Duke University and her Juris Doctorate from University of Florida College of Law. She began her 30-year legal career as a commercial litigator, managing litigation matters at trial and on appeal in the areas of real estate, construction defects, personal property tax, partnership and shareholder disputes, and other commercial contract disputes. She then served as in-house counsel for ADT Security Services, where she participated in dozens of mergers and acquisitions, the national dealer program, and property acquisitions and leasing. Jena then returned to private practice as a transactional lawyer, specializing in commercial real estate, including construction loans, complex purchases of commercial property, and corporate transactions. From 2005 through 2021, Jena proudly served as Vice President and General Counsel to Atlass Hardware Corp. (a company founded by her husband, Robert). During her tenure at Atlass Hardware Corp., Jena also owned a private alternative dispute resolution company and a law firm.
While Jena has volunteered and supported various organizations in the South Florida region, namely The Greater Miami Jewish Federation, Make-a-Wish Foundation and JAFCO, since retiring from the practice of law in 2022, she has been looking for an organization that fuels her passion for community involvement and aligns with her interest to better the community in which she lives. TMCF meets all these criteria, and she looks forward to devoting her time to the mission of the TMCF. Jena lives part-time in Telluride with her husband, Robert, and their dog, Wilson, where she enjoys skiing, hiking and mountain life.
Jason Slosberg, M.D.
Jason was born in Brooklyn, NY, to a working class family and moved quite frequently between the east and west coasts after his parents divorced at the age of eight. He is a first generation college graduate and attended Brandeis University where he received a B.A. in Philosophy. He started his first business at the age of 21 years old manufacturing skylights, but by the age of 24 had enrolled in Columbia University at night to attain a pre-med degree to pursue a career in Neurosurgery. At the age of 27 he sold his business, paid off his college debt, and enrolled in Brown Medical school where he eventually graduated with a focus on reconstructive surgery. Unfortunately, committing to doing the same profession for the rest of his life was too unnerving a decision to make and Jason pivoted again towards entrepreneurial ventures. In the past 20 years, Jason has built 5 companies in widely disparate sectors but all with a focus on building world class teams whose mission is to create products that have a positive impact. In 2017, Jason, his wife Hannah, and their two boys, Caleb and Maddox, sold or donated all of their worldly possessions and moved onto a sailboat in the Mediterranean where they lived for 18 months traveling from Gibraltar to Croatia and everywhere in between. Jason and his family now live in Telluride, CO, where he loves snowboarding, fly-fishing, hiking, and rock climbing with his family and friends.
Mary F. “Sissy” Sailors
For the last several years, Sissy has worked alongside her husband at Freeport McMoRan, doing social projects in the communities in which they mine. She’s had a specific focus on social impact in underprivileged communities. This includes helping to build water and sewage treatment plants for the city of Arequipa, Peru, to provide clean drinking water and disposal of sewage for the community. She also worked with the Archdiocese in Peru to restore La Recoleta Arequipa, preserving books dating to the Spanish Inquisition and providing crucial upgrades to its historical library, as well as assisted the DreamBuilders organization in their efforts to help women grow businesses and become financially independent in both Peru and Chile.
Since moving to Santa Fe, Sissy has worked with a small group of volunteers to improve community healthcare in New Mexico. After about a year of collaboration with UNM Health Science Center, Medicaid, NM Department of Health, and several community leaders throughout the state, UNMHSC has placed our concept and design at the forefront of their “ask” from the legislature in its next session. From here, the ideas will be implemented in several communities on a pilot basis, and throughout the state in the near future.
Previously, Sissy worked in both her own, private law practice and for a couple of large corporations in Human Resources, with a specialty of employee benefits. She has designed, administered and worked on the compliance side for health and welfare benefits, as well as retirement benefits. Sissy spent the last few years of her career at Vanguard, working as a Relationship Manager with its larger retirement plans ($500 million and above).
Sissy lives in Santa Fe, NM, with her husband of thirteen years, and two Golden Retrievers, Sugar and Roscoe. Hiking, swimming, fishing, and a love of cooking occupy her free time.
